Forty years of blueberries,

The Land

River & Root Farm is a working agricultural property spanning approximately thirty acres along the upper Santa Fe River in Alachua County, Florida — just outside Gainesville.

Blueberries have been grown on this land since the 1980s. The property also includes bamboo groves, forest trails, and access to the river. Historically it operated primarily as a wholesale blueberry farm and later transitioned toward u-pick and direct-to-consumer sales.

In July 2025 the farm was purchased by Rebecca Fox and David Tuthill, with the support of the Tuthill family, with the intention of stewarding blueberry production while expanding agritourism, educational programming, and gatherings that reconnect people with working land.

River & Root is truly a family-supported farm effort. Rebecca’s sister Anna Fox and her partner Ivan Botov live on the property with their sons Kosmos and Sasha, and together they help support the life and rhythm of the farm.

Anna is also the founder of Fertile Ground Apothecary — an herbal business rooted in traditional plant medicine and natural wellness products. Her tinctures and teas are available in our farm store during blueberry season.

How we farm

No synthetic inputs. Organic in practice,
organic in progress.

The farm has not used synthetic inputs since early 2023 and is currently transitioning toward organic certification while we learn the land and refine our management systems.

Farmers are on the front lines of restoring soil fertility, biodiversity, and resilient local food systems. We are here for the long work. — Rebecca & David
